When the election is over, which of the candidates do you want negotiating for you on the world stage? The slow steady good guy, or the flashy drive-by-night guy who promises everything and delivers nothing (when was the last time you heard about the money wasted on a certain wall?).
I read a piece from National Geographic about the terrain a real wall would have to be built on and there are areas along the US southern border where the geography is impossible to build a wall like that on. I recall the piece saying in some areas of the desert, the bedrock that any wall or fence would have to be built on is 1,000 feet below the surface. What’s already there is probably the best they can do with today’s technology and methods for border security unless they spend a lot more money to hire more agents to patrol the border and provide more than enough of the best equipment to do it. Have you heard of or read “American Dirt” by Jeanine Cummings. It’s a powerful story that deals with the reasons and the dangers most migrants face to reach the United States. Many don’t make it. They vanish. Probably in an unmarked grave.
