Funding AOC’s Green New Deal

If AOC (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez) stays true to herself and avoids being corrupted by the terminal cancer that corporate Democrats and most if not every Republican represent (and I’m talking about “EVERY” registered Republican, not just the elected ones. I mean every brain dead, biased, racist GOP voter), then here is my suggestion for paying for AOC’s Green New Deal.

The United States must pass legislation that limits defense spending to twice what the European Union’s member nations spend on their defense. When Illegitimate Fake President Donald Trump blames NATO nations for not spending enough on defense, it is safe to say that he doesn’t know what he is talking about.

“In 2016, the EU’s 28 Member States earmarked €200 billion of public expenditure for ‘defense’ (That is $226.738-Billion U.S. Dollars).” Most if not all of the EU also belongs to NATO.

That means the U.S. would only be allowed to spend $453.4 billion annually on defense and military spending instead of the $716 billion Donald Trump wants to spend on defense for 2019 while drastically cutting all domestic spending including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

My suggested restrictions on military spending would free up $263 billion annually to pay for AOC’s Green New Deal.  That is my answer to all the conservatives that keep asking how AOC plans to pay for the New Green Deal.

Why does the United States have to continue spending so much money on defense?

According to Defense News, “Worldwide military spending is estimated to have reached $1.7 trillion in 2017 … This is the highest level of military expenditure since the end of the Cold War.”

The U.S. spends 35-percent of the worldwide total and China is #2 with 13-percent. If my funding suggestion for AOC’s Green New Deal was implemented, the US would still be spending twice what China does and 9x what Russia spends.

Then there is this. Trump lies and brags that he has the support of the military. No, he doesn’t. He has the support of some of the military but not all of the military, not even the majority of the troops support DT.

Support for Trump is fading among active-duty troops, new poll shows. Trump’s support in the military dropped from 46.1% in 2016 to 43.8% in 2018. At no point has Trump had a majority (more than 50 percent) of the active duty military supporting him.

You are moving back toward the original Green Party Green New Deal’s method of funding.

The Green Party has never had the power to accomplish even part of its proposed agenda but if AOC represents the beginning of a progressive movement in the Democratic Party and that faction grows in power then one day they might do it. One thing we can learn from history is that nothing stays the same forever, and it is time for the pendulum to start swinging away from the far right back to the left.

Hear, Hear, and Huzzah. Of course, this will have no effect on the Republicans OR the Democrats – they’re all Hamiltonians now, and Nancy P takes 50,000 bucks a year from the war profiteers – or on MakeAmericaGreatAgainTrump. I’d suggest an even larger cut. Also, I’d suggest that there be enough funding given to the National Parks, US Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife, USGS, NASA, and NASA education so they can do their jobs. (NPS gets $2.8 billion for 440 parks, has a huge maintenance backlog, and runs priamrily on volunteers now.) I’d also reinstate civil service exams and standards for hiring and promotion in order to stop the too-prevalent current and recent hiring by politics rather than objectively-determined knowledge, skills, and abilities. But for just now, I’d throw my support to you on this, and will forward the email to some friends.

    Thanks

We would be able to do a lot more if we reinstated the income tax rate that existed under President Eisenhower.

The reason for that tax rate was to pay off the cost of fighting World War II.
