Hundreds of Federal Prosecutors Sign Petition Saying that Trump Performed Multiple Felonious Acts Obstructing Justice

GFBrandenburg's Blog

This is hot. Hundreds of federal prosecutors, both Republicans and Democrats, say that Trump’s behavior would merit multiple felony indictments for obstruction of justice — except for a single DOJ memo that claims that a sitting president can’t be indicted.

You can read their statement, and their names, at this link.

“Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice.

The Mueller report describes several acts that satisfy all of the elements for an obstruction charge: conduct that obstructed or attempted to obstruct the truth-finding process, as to which the evidence of corrupt intent and connection to pending proceedings is overwhelming. These include:

  1. My guess is that Republicans are trying to distance themselves from THEIR president, hoping to avoid being swept away by the tsunami.

I’m not sure I have a lot of sympathy for them, but it’s still something to put your name on such a list.

    1. I think you are right. Most Senate Republicans are staying silent hoping Trump’s followers do not notice they are trying to become invisible and make no attempt to stop Trump’s fascist, hate-filled, racist, fraudulent, illegitimate presidency doing all it can to undermine the U.S. Constitution. These Republicans don’t care about the rest of us voters. They only fear Trump’s solid core that will vote them out during the primaries if they show any sign that they have a backbone and might stand in the way of Fuhrer who idolizes Putin and wants to be just like his hero/god.

      1. I also have never understood how the ‘loyal
Americans’ who support DT have managed to swallow their hatred of the Russians, once they found out their leader was in bed with them.

I think we also need to remind Republican women that their men aren’t supposed to know how they actually vote. They’re cowed or brainwashed or in some cases single-issue voters, but they have to know their health insurance and that of their children is being attacked.

      2. How do they, the blind and hate-filled Trump supporters, define loyalty?

      3. Following the current leader who makes them feel better than other people. As long as the leader keeps it up. They’re not better than those who follow warlords in Africa, or dictators in Asia and South America, or the ruling Communists.

      4. Yes, they are the Facist, hate-filled Trumpist deplorables, and are just as bad if not worse than all the Germans that fell in line behind Hitler and his Final Solution and were willing to terrify and murder anyone that got in their way no matter what race or religions.

Did you have a chance to see a clip from a recent AOC townhall meeting where a Trumpist waited in line to ask her quest6ions and when he got the mike he held on to it way past his allotted time as he argued Freedom of speech protected hate speech and that as a Christian he had to even love everyone he hated and when he said that last bit, his voice changed and was full of poison.? He even glanced around and used his eyes to spear some women in the crowd wearing headscarves. Those women might have been Muslims but wearing a headscarf doesn’t automatically mean you are a Muslim. He just hated them because they wore a head scarf.

How can anyone claim to be a Christian and stand up and suport the freedom to HATE?

      5. It’s easy: he’s not a Christian. He thinks he’s special (white, right?) and that somehow makes him entitled. And better than other people – women, everyone of color, children, the disabled, the intellectually challenged – you name it, he thinks they’re inferior. And he’s mad because he doesn’t get a bigger share of the pie.

Christ loved the Roman soldiers who put him to death, and the Sanhedrin who egged people into crying for his crucifixion. He asked His Father to forgive them ‘for they know not what they do.’

THAT’s Christian. He’s hard to follow, but some of us try.

      6. I don’t want to even know how someone like that guy and Trump thinks. It would be like taking a bath in evil.

  2. Seems the Federal Prosecutors don’t have the FREEDOM to release the truth.

    1. From what I’ve read the federal prosecutor in, I think, the Southern District of New York has that freedom due to some quirk in the law that allows him more freedom and more protection from behind fired. I think that’s why Mueller was passing on so much evidence to that office during the Russian investigation

    2. From what I have read, there is at last one Federal Prosecutor who can’t be controlled by the U.S. AO (Barr) and he is, I think, running the Southern District in New York State. It seems there is some old legislation that protects him and allows him more freedom to operate and not be fired e3asily.

This is the guy that Mueller shared so much information with and this is the guy who has filed seve4ral lawsuits against Trump that will haunt him after he is out of the White Hosue for good.

I guess there’s this thing called “executive privilege”, where a standing president is truly “above the law”. And the Federal Prosecutors do NOT have the FREEDOM to tell the truth.
But I also can only guess (as told to believe) that we are the most FREE (and powerful) nation on this planet. It must be a horrifying job to have to sit back and not be free enough to tell the truth about what is happening before our eyes with Trump as our president. Thank you, Lloyd, for all the information and insights you post on your blog. Never quit.

    1. Thank you.

From what I understand, the president isn’t above the law but the justice system only gathers the evidence and then it is up to Congress to get rid of him. The US Constitution says a president may be impeached when they are found guilty by the House (Congress) but the verdict must come from the Senate.

And today’s GOP with a two-seat majority advantage will not find him guilty after the House impeaches him. The House will also probably vote along party lines. And once the GOP dominated Senate votes in DT’s favor, we will hear Trump crow how he has survived another coup attempt from the criminals and traitors in the Democratic Party. I think that is why Pelosi doesn’t want to impeach because she knows the Senate will not convict the corrupt monster.

He will also demand that he should have four more years as president because he couldn’t do his job due to the traitors in the Democratic Party. I think Trump does this because he hopes and prays the worst deplorable that blindly support him will g out and start killing Democrats. One of them already tried once when he mailed all those bombs out. AOC and other freshmen House members are getting death threats just because Trump verbally attacks them and accuses them of crimes.

“The Constitution, Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

I’ve also read that the odds are against the Democrats taking back the majority in the Senate in 2020.
